Why is mental health important for Correctional Officers?
As correctional officers, we've seen firsthand the challenges that mental health issues pose within the correctional system, both for inmates and staff. Completing the 2000 Push-Up Challenge for Canadian Mental Health is our way to make a tangible difference.
Working in corrections, we understand the critical need for better mental health support. This challenge serves as a platform to raise awareness about mental health issues, particularly in environments like correctional facilities where stress and mental health challenges can be significantly amplified.
Engaging in such a rigorous physical challenge not only builds physical strength but also mental resilience. It's a testament to the idea that physical health can bolster mental health, a message that resonates deeply within our profession where both physical and psychological demands are high.
